- Beginning
- Races present:
i.
Guardian – A highly advanced organic race that maintained order in
the universe through aggressive means. They put down or ended any quarrel
within their domain and things were at peace for a long time because of their
diligence.
ii.
Marauder – An equally powerful race as the Guardians, but less
advanced and more war-like. Their fleets were designed for the sole purpose of
destruction. For a long time they coexisted with the other species, but
lethargy and the war drive eventually got the better of them.
iii.
Aspha Miner – A wealthy race of mineral extractors. They supplied
the other races of the universe with the materials needed to create their machines
of war, often playing the neutral party in many engagements.
iv.
Phylots – They trade raw materials and money for minerals and
goods with the Aspha Miners and use them to construct their Collective androids.
These androids are the only ones capable of living on the harsh planetary
conditions the Phylots use to cultivate excellent foodstuffs. These planets
contain lethal levels of carbon dioxide and as such, are almost inhospitable to
non-plant life.
1. Note on Collective origins:
Rumor has it that the Collectives were created as machines of war from the
bodies of fallen enemies and used to combat their once friends. After the war,
their unique composition of metal and flesh gave them a unique economic purpose.
- Guardian excavates and begins
researching the long dead Kal-Zul species. They unearth two smaller
versions of the Kal-Zul’s impressive fleet and add them to their already
impressive collection of ships. A series of unknown artifacts has also
been lifted, but no clue was present as to their use. At this time they
work tirelessly to put use to this powerful technology.
- Guardian-Marauder War
- Marauders begin an aggressive
campaign against the Guardians; perhaps just for the thrill of battle,
but the real reason for this campaign is unknown. The Marauders achieve
victory after victory with finely honed tactics of stealth and speed and
fight the Guardians all the way back to their home planet.
- At the final battle, the
Guardians figure out the purpose of the unknown objects and begin the
ignition sequences. The Marauders try and try to break through the final
defenses of the Guardians, but it is in vain. The Kal-Zul weapon is
activated for the first time.
- The Guardians are converted
into energy beings and lose all sense of touch, smell, warmth…
- The majority of the Marauders
was teleported to another universe and became known as the Dark
Marauders, the remaining continued the practice of raiding the different
people of the universe and staying alive. They continued to evolve over
time.
- The Collective Revolution
- The Phylots never really
recovered from the explosion, they could never get their colonies back to
maximum capacity. What they didn’t know was that their creations were
damaged in the blast; now having limited cognitive abilities. They could
think. They could share information with each other. Eventually,
rebellion set in.
- The Collective eventually got
airborne and fought space battles with their former masters. The
Guardians refused to offer aid to the Phylots due to a civil war they
were dealing with. But light-speed robotic synapses always overcame
organic impulses and the Phylots were eventually eradicated. The
Collectives came into power on their own right. Preying on the technology
of other races and continuing their purpose, agriculture.
- The Collective-Aspha War
- The Collectives were
interested in the Miners’ mining technology and sought to bring this into
their fold. When the Collectives entered the Miners’ domain, the Orion
system, the Miners responded with wall after wall of advanced defensive
platforms.
- The Collectives were
eventually out-lasted and left the system, but not before most of the
Aspha Empire was crushed and broken. The survivors of the war fled their
home system and spread themselves wide and far so that their race would
never be at risk of extinction again.
- The Terrans
- The Terrans arrive on the
interstellar scene. They were a highly inquisitive and fruitful race,
meeting and overcoming each challenge with unsurpassed efficiency. They
spread out far and wide from their home planet of Earth.
- More and more technology was
developed to travel the stars and conquer the enemies they ran into.
Mostly the Aspha Miners and Marauders. Some of the Terrans fiercest
energy weapons were designed to overcome these races. When the Guardians
attempted to curb their infestation, the Terrans responded with a new
type of fighters, and unleashed volleys and volleys of missiles upon the
Guardians. Again the Terrans remained unchecked.
- The Terrans eventually got a hold
of the Marauder’s home world and enslaved the population. Forcing them to
do their menial labor and planet terra forming, really any work that was
deemed unfit for human attention. Generations of living amongst the
Terrans as slaves made the Marauders docile and lost many of their
ancient characteristics, taking on some of those as the Terrans.
- Viral 106
- Terran experimentation on an
entire colony ended in the creation of a deadly virus. It took control of
anything and everything and gave it cognitive abilities. The virus was
contained however by a massive Terran fleet, but the virus was not
eliminated.
- The Unification Wars
- The heart of the Terran Empire,
Earth, started to exert constant, direct authority over the outer colonies,
seeking to draw all wealth towards the center. The outer colonies banded
together and formed separate factions, each one led by a representative
of the United Worlds Council, and stood up to Earth’s forces and demanded
independence.
- In a quick, yet stunning
victory, the United Worlds Council brought the war to the doorstep of
Earth, and eventually destroyed their ancestral home planet. The United
Worlds Council was now left to the task of rebuilding their torn empire. But
each representative wanted to become the new commander in chief of the Terran
empires. And so another internal war ensued, a war to unify the Terrans.
- Eventually, the shattering of
the Terran’s structured government allowed for many of the Marauders to
sneak aboard ships and escape the Terran’s oppression. They then started
a campaign of liberating their brethren and increasing their numbers.
Never maintaining a home world, lest they be caught and killed, the
Marauders fed off the outer edges of the Terran’s empire, always taking
advantage of their disunity.
- The Terran-Aspha War
- The United Worlds Council was
the organization that organized Terran expansion and coordinated the
defense of all colonies. Under their vigilance the Terrans expanded to
the limits of the Aspha Empire’s new limits.
- This brought on a new war in
which the Aspha Miners tried their defensive tactics out a second time.
The Terrans easily overcame the defenses of the Aspha Empire and from
then on, the Aspha Miners were forced to expand as fast as they lost to
the Terrans.
- That war is still being waged
to this day.
- Collapse of the United Worlds Council
- Sometime around 9500 A.D. a
large planet was found. It was extremely difficult to scan and analyze
its composition, prompting a specialized exploration team. The Terrans,
curious as always, woke up the previous inhabitants.
- The core of this planet was
actually hollowed out and housed a small piece of an alien fleet. This
fleet proved to be the remains of the original Marauder army, the only
opposition to the Guardians. Unchanged by random evolution and unspoiled
by simple combat with the ever-retreating minors and unspoiled by the
young Terrans, these creatures saw the wealth inherent in the Terrans
colonies and sought to take it by force.
- They made short work of the
Terrans, moving faster than rumors could travel. Creating a chain of victories
directly to the heart of the Terran Empire. The Council was destroyed,
and all inter-colonial communication was terminated. The Terran Empire
quickly collapsed in on itself in a massive civil war, and anyone with
backbone stepped forth to claim some power in a smaller empires.
- Rise of the Virals
- Once the Terrans fell, the
virus went unchecked. Infecting ships that flew through the infected
sector of space, the virus developed its own weapon capabilities by
infecting the missiles on these defended merchant ships.
- The Virals as they were
dubbed infected ships from the fractured Terrans, competitive Miners, and
starving Marauders. They were unable to infect the energy based
Guardians, and any attempt to infect the Collectives has ended in a
stalemate.
- They are now on the spread,
and have attracted the attention of the Guardians who now fight
desperately to keep the universe in balance.
- Current Times
- Races Present:
i.
Terrans – The once great empire has collapsed in a storm of small
empires that bid against each other for power. All races call Terrans enemies,
and they even fight among each other.
ii.
Aspha Miners – Mineral market competition has forced individual
mineral unions into battle with one another. As always, the Miners are defending
themselves from everyone.
iii.
Collectives – These rare, robotic species prey on the smaller and
weaker races of the universe, maintaining themselves by infecting the ships of
others.
iv.
Marauders – They continue the ancient tradition of making a living
off the outer limits of empires, they scrape by as always.
v.
Viral 106 – This virus has been on a rampage, and has yet been
stopped! They infect and plague planet after planet, becoming some of the
strongest conglomerates since the first Great War.
vi.
Guardians – The enigmatic protectors of the galaxy now have all of
their attention tied up in the Viral pandemic that
they often fall victim to the shattered Terran remains. They are no longer the
great race they were.
vii.
Dark Marauders – There have been no reported incidents of them
reappearing since the collapse of the United Worlds Council.
viii.
Kal-Zul – They have returned, seemingly from the dead to put an
end to the constant bickering amongst the many races. When things get too
overgrown for their tastes they eradicate just about everything.
